Who Are We?

The Northwest Alliance for Clean Transportation (NW Alliance) endeavors to bring together a diverse group of stakeholders who want to promote expanded deployment of natural gas vehicles (NGVs) as an environmentally-friendly, sustainable transportation solution.

We invite members of the gas and transportation industries – including renewable natural gas developers, pipeline operators, gas utilities, fleet owners, and truck manufacturers – as well as interested organizations (lobbying, environmental, etc.) and municipalities, to join us in this endeavor.

Our primary focus will be on heavy-duty vehicles, for which already existing natural gas technology (NGT) has resulted in demonstrable and impressive emissions reductions over diesel engines in both case studies and actual wheels-on-the-road commercial usage. Add in the highly competitive energy-equivalent price of natural gas compared to diesel, and the abundant supply of U.S. natural gas, and it becomes clear why we believe we have a mandate to promote its benefits.

Goals of the NW Alliance for Clean Transportation include:

  • Promoting increased use of compressed natural gas (CNG), liquefied natural gas (LNG), and renewable natural gas (RNG) as a transportation fuel.
  • Serving as a clearinghouse for information on all things NGT. Over time, we expect to offer resources from broad educational materials to specifics on available tax credits, certifications or other programs available for such things as fleet conversions or RNG development projects.
  • Organizing and executing collective industry action in legislative and rulemaking settings to benefit NGV expansion.
  • Hosting and/or supporting educational events for targeted audiences.
